For my personal learning network I decided to explore different ways to teach music to make it easier for children to understand, I believe that if students are taught basic music concepts earlier in life, it will not only help them be more successful at music, it will help them in their other classes as well. I explored several avenues, such as using software to teach students basic notes, or using instruments to teach them different pitches. I found several videos on youtube that use acronyms to teach students about notes in the staff, as well as other videos that teach about different pitches and how to sing them. On a website known as Bloglovin' I found articles that use popular nursery rhymes and songs to teach solfege to kids in a way that helps them understand the pitches and how each syllable has a different sound. I also found news articles on a website for music education (NEMC) that demonstrate how teaching music education early can instill values in students that will help them succeed later in their education. Lastly, I found a website for the Music National National Association that lists numerous links to other websites about all aspects of music. It takes you to websites with games to teach basic music concepts in all types of music genres (classical, jazz, etc.). In addition to teaching basic music concepts, this website leads you to other sites, that use interactive games to describe different, and important, composers to give kids a good basis for later music classes. Overall, my personal learning network helps provide me with different sources and websites that will help children understand and master various elements of music, as well as help them be successful in other classes.
